How To Be More Than a Conqueror Pt. 2

Another reason we might not be conquerors is we haven’t come to the place where we truly don’t trust ourselves. When we come to the place where we know that we can’t do life. That needs to be the premise of our life if we are to have victory. We fail because we trust ourselves.

There needs to be a time when we say,”I can’t do life.” Period. Permanent. It must be a trusted and settled fact from that day forward.

Some scary enemies

If we say, “I can’t defeat the god of alcohol, tobacco, porn, anger, jealousy, spending money” then we are at the beginning of help. I can’t. It is too strong for me.

God is ready and most happy to help within those boundaries. He wants us to hide in Him and let Him defeat the enemy for us.

The Hebrew people needed to learn that basic principle. In Exodus 14, Moses encouraged them not to trust in themselves. Maybe you have 5 minutes to read the story.

Even your own abilities (that is your flesh, carnal) are your enemy. Jesus said without Him we could do nothing, nothing of lasting spiritual value.

Admitting our powerlessness

When we bow before the Eternal One in front of our enemies, we are not bowing before them, but before the Almighty God admitting that we are powerless. They will see and take notice. They will notice that you are falling on God’s grace, trusting in His power to bring victory to your life.

God does not help us overcome. God doesn’t give us strength. He gives us Jesus who is quite capable of living the Christian life. Only Jesus can live an authentic Christian life. Ours is to yield constantly to Him throughout our days. Allowing Him to live for us.

Read Romans 7:14-24 about Apostle Paul’s struggle with his weaknesses. Notice how often he says “I” …… He emphasizes all of his struggles to overcome, but fails. Then in verse 25 he nearly shouts out the answer which he goes on to explain in chapter 8. Allowing the Holy Spirit to live in him and fight for him will bring victory.

Words to light your path this week –

Exodus 14:13 And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today.” NKJV

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. NKJV

Romans 7:14-24

2 Chronicles 20:3, 12 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. “O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.” NKJV

Prayer: O Lord, help us to see the futility of trusting in our own abilities. You give us the victory over our enemies. It is all of You.
