We can live each day with fearless faith when we realize nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. So, how do these terms found in Romans 8:35, 38,39 relate to my life?

  1. Tribulation  – oppressed, bothered, troubled
  1. Distress  – misfortune, suffering, calamity
  1. Persecution – aggravation, annoyance, teasing, hrassment
  1. Famine – scarcity, lack, shortages
  1. Nakedness – lacking enough clothing
  1. Peril – danger of losing _____
  1. Sword – coercive power, threat of life or maybe livelihood, death, or death of someone close, fighting strife

So how do those terms relate to my life?

  1. What kind of trouble did you experience today or this week?
  2. Misfortune or calamity doesn’t happen every day, but it can happen.  I live in tornado country.  That would be calamity.  Last year a tornado or destructive winds hit just 7 miles from us. Terrible destruction. Car accidents definitely are terrible. I’m grateful that I don’t live in a war torn country.
  3. Persecution of any kind is painful. It could be for your faith, status, your personality.  When someone doesn’t like you and lets you know, that is painful.
  4. Famine of all kinds of things. The world supply chain seems to be in trouble.  There are empty shelves in the stores. What if we had to ration like they did in WW2? Maybe we don’t have enough money to buy the food our family needs.
  5. Nakedness is not something we deal with . But some may have very few clothes. Maybe they have to clothe themselves and their children from secondhand stores.
  6. Peril is some kind of danger.  Could we be in danger of losing our health, our home, our job?
  7. Sword sounds like fighting and strife. Maybe our life is in danger from an illness. Maybe we live in an unsafe environment.

Nothing and no person can separate us from the love of God. Not lack of nice clothing, bullying people, calamity, losing employment, or difficult home life. We can live enveloped in His protective love. Isn’t that good to know?

So we can live each day confidently, knowing nothing will happen to us outside of God’s will. He is taking you on a journey. Live each day with fearless faith confidently trusting your God.

Isn’t it good to discover how the Bible relates to real life?
