Mortal Tragedy – You Can Help Prevent It

Mortal Tragedy – You Can Help Prevent It

bare tree limbs and stormy sky showing sadness

Tragedy – something really awful that didn’t need to take place; it could have been avoided

Mortal – ending in death

If a terrible tragedy could be avoided but isn’t and ends in death, we think of it as a mortal tragedy, right?

Do we think of Easter as a mortal tragedy? It wasn’t. It was the biggest triumph of all. Jesus said, “It is finished.” He accomplished what He was sent to do.

Greatest Mortal Tragedy

The greatest mortal tragedy of all time is rejecting God’s gift of salvation, His gift of reconciliation, His gift of forgiveness, His gift of Life.

His love is pure, selfless. It is the Greek word agape. Agape means a love that wants only the best for someone, not looking for reciprocation. It is so valuable, like gold. Where else can a person find someone to love them like that?

God’s Plan to Prevent Mortal Tragedy

The God of the universe devised a plan to reconcile we humans who rejected Him and daily reject Him. We didn’t have to plead with Him to come up with a solution to bridge the gap between Him and us. While we weren’t caring or concerned about it, God came up with a plan. A plan that would satisfy His holiness and yet allow Him to love us. Yes, He reaches out to us every day we live.

If only we could see. If only we could see the gulf or chasm separating us from God. We think we are so good. So intelligent. So wise.

The Source of Mortal Tragedy

I pray that our eyes would be opened to see the truth. Satan deceived Eve and has been deceiving most of humanity all these years. Deceiving people into thinking God isn’t real, and he, Satan, isn’t real. Only what our five senses tell us is real. And he is winning by a large majority – very large.

Only God can enable us to see what is the truth and see clearly how Satan tricked Eve into giving up the life we all dream of.

We were designed to walk and talk with God. Until we are reconciled to Him through the death of His Son Jesus, we do our best. Then when we die and stand before the judgment seat, we will know the truth. But then it will be too late. A mortal tragedy that didn’t have to be.

I pray that Jesus didn’t die in vain for you. If you accept His gift of life He will be so joyful because that is the very reason He was sent. That is the very reason He endured all for you.

You can prevent a mortal tragedy

Will you prevent another mortal tragedy? Maybe you don’t see the truth. What a tragedy it would be for you to stand before the judgment seat of  God after rejecting Jesus’ gift with only your good works as your support. God’s only question will be, what did you do with His Son? I pray it won’t end in mortal tragedy. Will you accept His gift of life?

Maybe someone you love doesn’t see the truth. Pray. Pray. Pray. Only God can open their eyes to see their need of Him.

Father God, I pray for each person reading this blog post that when they leave this life on earth it will be a celebrated homecoming and not a mortal tragedy.
