Come To God Just As You Are

Come To God Just As You Are

Just As I Am

1. We all come to God in the same condition. We have nothing with which to gain His approval. There is nothing about us that would commend us to Him. Nothing to say we are good enough. Nothing. No one. There is none righteous. Romans 3:10

But, He says, “Come.”

Even as believers, we have nothing to commend us to Him except the blood of Jesus , His precious son. Nothing. No one.

So we come, as believers, covered by His blood.

Just as I am, without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bid’st me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come! I come!

2. We come with all our spots and stains from sin. We cannot remove those stains. Only His blood can remove those spots. 1 John 1:8-9

So we come needing cleansed. Don’t wait.

Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot;
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

3. We come in spite of inner turmoil, conflicting emotions, doubts and fears.

Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt;
Fightings within, and fears without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

4. If we will only realize that we are poor, wretched, blind and mentally messed up, we can find all we need in Him. We will see clearly, have what we need, and our mind will be healed. Revelation 3:17

Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
Sight, riches, healing of the mind;
Yes, all I need, in Thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

5. God will receive us if we come humbly believing that He rewards those who seek Him. He will welcome, pardon, and relieve our burdens.

Come to our only source of help. Isaiah 41:10

Just as I am, Thou wilt receive
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve
Because Thy promise I believe
O Lamb of God, I come, I come

6. There are usually many barriers between us and God. Not His barriers. No. Our barriers. Reasons why not come to Him. If we would realize a relationship with our creator is all that really matters.

Come allowing His love to break down the barriers you have built.

As believers or non-believers, come with all your questions, failure, hate, anger, fear, uncertainty, pride, or shame.

Just as I am, Thy love unknown
Has broken every barrier down;
Now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

This is one of my favorite songs, if not the favorite. It is how I come to God. Even as believers, we can come just as we are. To find help, comfort, wisdom, guidance, and forgiveness.

It is an easy song to learn. This version is the original. It is simple, straightforward, and beautiful.

Words to light your path

Psalm 51:4 Against You, You only, have I sinned, And done this evil in Your sight– That You may be found just when You speak, And blameless when You judge. NKJV

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, NKJV

Isaiah 55:7  let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. ESV

Father in heaven, may we all see our need to come to You. May nothing keep us from coming to You.
