Jesus came to remove the separation

This Christmas season as many celebrate the birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ, consider with me what His purpose was in coming for you as I share why He came for me. 

He came to redeem me and to reconcile me to the Father. He came to bridge the chasm that separated me from God. His gift of life.    Galatians 3:10-13 2 Corinthians 5:18-19

Living independently of God was choosing to live away from Him when He had created me to be one with Him, to find my wholeness in Him, to discover completeness with His life in me.  Colossians 2:10

That choice created a deep chasm separating me from God through no fault of His. It was my fault. Like everyone born from Adam, we are cut off from God. Severed. Disconnected. Unable to fix the problem myself.     Ephesians 2:14-18                

God loves me 

It was when I realized my lost condition and saw the chasm that I saw what God had done by sending His son to pay the debt because He loves me. Life for a life. That was when I saw Jesus and why He came. He came to pay my debt. He came to live a life of perfection that I could not then die covered by all my sins and sins of all people who ever lived. He did that because He loves me. God couldn’t look on His son in that filthy state. Jesus was forsaken so I wouldn’t have to be forsaken.   2 Corinthians 5:21

Now as I place my faith in Him, He gives my His life. Now, not just for when I die, but right now. His life frees me to be who I was created to be. Gift of life. Perfectly aligned. Whole. Complete. That is why He came.     John 5:24

Did you know God loves you?

Yes, that is why He came for you. He loves you. That is what followers of Jesus celebrate this Christmas season. I pray that He did not come in vain for you. Will you accept Him and His gift of life, or do you know someone who would see that He came for them that you could share this message with?  God has given this gift to everyone. It is up to each of us to receive that gift and open it.

Prayer

God Of All, we celebrate the birth of Your son during this time of year. Open our eyes to see why He came and to see Your love for us. May our need for salvation overwhelm us to the point we will see the truth and receive Your Son as our only hope of salvation, the only bridge to You. Amen.
