A Life of Significance

A Life of Significance

God’s gift of love for each one is a gift of eternal life so that we could be saved from spiritual death. And not just saved to get to heaven someday, but saved to live a life of significance—a life following Jesus, a life abounding in joy and peace.

Significance means we know we are loved, needed, important to someone, and are of value.

As believers, we will not only live a born again person’s life with the goal of heaven, but we now have significance. Member of His body. He has a plan for and through each of us. Do you feel significant?

Life of significance

Walking with Him and being His close friend. That is our purpose. Pointing others to Him. Being of use to Him. Being a person of significance in His kingdom. We are now part of another world, another order of people. No longer belonging to this world. We are different. Set apart (holy).

It is too easy just to get through each day with no purpose other than getting through the day. But if we see our main job as spouse, parent, sibling, employee, etc., then our home, our workplace, our neighborhood, becomes our mssion field.

Our life of significance as we live for Him

We live for Him.  We are on His payroll, so to speak. He is our king and master. We are his servants from the moment we wake in the morning to the time our eyes close in sleep—all day. No downtime

He will provide all we need. Whatever He asks of us, He provides the ability to do it. Whatever difficulty we face, He provides all we need to deal with it. Every little irritation, He wants to live a life of patience through us. He does not demand it of our abilities. He demands it of His abilities. Do you see what an incredible life this is? We exchange our life for His life. We walk away from our abilities or lack of abilities, to embrace Him and His abilities. Following Him.

How to enter into a life of significance

First of all, become part of God’s kingdom by accepting Jesus Christ as your personal savior. Then, turn away from yourself—your abilities, your desires and plans, your inabilities, you as boss—and follow Jesus. Take up your cross reminding yourself that you are no longer boss and follow Jesus. Let Him be resident boss in your inner person, your spirit.

I know it’s paradoxical. It’s not me first. It’s not all about me. It’s not about me at all. It is counter to building self-esteem. It is not the acceptable foundation for counseling in our culture, but it is God’s way. His ways are above our ways.

It’s in that paradoxical world of the kingdom of God that real significance, real personal fulfillment can be found.

Your place of significance

Do you feel significant? Or do you feel you are just taking up space? In God’s kingdom, all are significant. Everyone. Each plays an important role in His kingdom.
