Holiness – What Does That Mean?

Holiness – What Does That Mean?

This past week I have been pondering that word ‘holiness.’ Does that word make you feel uncomfortable? Uneasy? Offended, maybe?

So what does it mean to be holy? Are we to be holy or is it for only a few. Maybe you don’t want to be holy. Is holiness pious behavior? Can things be holy?

In looking for a picture to put with this post, I came across a variety of images. Bible, stained glass church windows, cross, temples, white dove, various religious people and angels. Many images of what we think illustrates holiness.

So I chose this picture as most can relate it to holiness.

You probably have something that is holy. Most people have something that is holy. I will leave you with these thoughts to ponder and get back with you in a few days to discuss further the idea of holiness.

Words to light your path

Psalm 99:3,5,9 Let them praise Your great and awesome name—He is holy. Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at His footstool—He is holy. Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at His holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy. NKJV

Holy Father, show us what it means to be holy. Show us as much of Your holiness as we can understand. Help us comprehend just who You are. Humbly we pray, Amen.
