Empowered to Live Supernaturally

Empowered to Live Supernaturally

Is your Christian life empowered by the supernatural or not all that you had hoped for or expected? Is it empowered by the supernatural or by your efforts?

Much of the time we Christians think that it is up to us to live the Christian life by our efforts. How many of us invite God into our lives then wonder why life does not go so well? We try harder. We pray more, read the Bible more, etc. We want to please Him, but so many times we fail.

Empowered by God

We know God has mercifully forgiven us and saved us, but now we mistakenly think it is up to us to live right with our natural abilities (with His help, of course).

The good news is that it is not true. It is not our responsibility because we do not have the capability. Living the Christian life is not of human strength. It is not a natural growth. Rather it is a supernatural growth. Empowered and infused by the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is the vine and wants us to draw from His abilities, His very life, like a branch, draws its life from the vine. All the branch’s life comes from the vine. So it is, our ability to grow, deal with stressful situations, or produce fruit does not come from our abilities.

Jesus our example

Jesus showed His followers by His life that He was dependent on the Father. He is our example. All He did and said was what He received from His Father.

At the new birth, we were forgiven, accepted, and placed into Christ. We were grafted into the vine of Jesus and now daily receive from Him all we need for life and godliness. All that He has is ours. Living the Christian life by our abilities is like we are a branch cut off from the vine.

Do you see if He lives through you, you will have His abilities and His guidance? Every moment of every day of every week, month and year.

Supernatural resources

By allowing Him to live through us, He will take care of the stress, fears, worry, etc. It is only possible as we allow God to live His life through us. Only His spiritual Life can produce in us spiritual fruit. We can’t. Natural abilities cannot produce spiritual fruit. Are you beginning to see how it is not of us at all? It is supernatural.

Step aside and allow Him to live through you, and you will not be disappointed. Keep your focus on yielding to Him and drawing from His resources.

Words to light your path this week

Remember to take one of the following verses and meditate on it all day.

  • John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. NKJV
  • John 15:5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. NKJV
  • John 5:19 Must assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. NKJV
  • John 5:30 I can of Myself do nothing. NKJV
  • John 14:10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. NKJV

Prayer – Loving Father, you have made it possible for us to live a life that is pleasing to you and fruitful if we would simply stay attached to Jesus and draw from Him all we need. Thank you so much.
