Significance in God’s Family

Significance in God’s Family

All equal on judgment day

All people are equal in God’s family. No one is insignificant.

Are you significant

Do you ever feel like you are insignificant? Big name ministries, musicians, or authors may seem more important to you than your life. Will they receive a greater reward in heaven? Let’s see what the Bible says. It has the final say. It is clear. Simple.

We learn in John 14 Jesus said that those who love Him will be loved by the Father and that they will move in and live in us. Remember? So, what is that love measured by? Successful ministry? College degree? Music ministry? Being an influencer? Hmmm…

God does not require of us a successful ministry to obtain His approval. Not success by any standard, or approval of friends, or respect from others. No ministry. No building project. No missionary endeavor. No perfect home life.

What is God looking for

God the Father is looking for those that love His Son. How do we demonstrate that kind of love? Again in the same passage Jesus reveals the simplicity of it. We love Him by keeping His commandments. That is all.

Jesus gave His disciples a new commandment. “A new commandment I give to you, that you love another: just as I have loved you.” John 13:34 ESV

Do you think that is difficult? He asks of us, and then steps in and does it for us. Philippians 2:13 says, “for it is God who works in you both the willing and the working according to his good pleasure.” The Darby Bible

Simply obedience. And that is available to all who follow Him who are His children. What He asks of us He provides. Wow! It is His resurrection power that lives in us.!

It is not from our ability to obey, rather it is a spiritual thing. Our ability is natural, carnal. Not accepted no matter how good or how well intended. It must be of the spirit that is infused with His Spirit enabling us and inspiring us to obey.

Rewards based on obedience

It is all He asks. Rewards will be based on our obedience, nothing else. Not success. Not How many people we witnessed to, or influenced. Not ministry. Only obedience.

It is good to know that it is not my ability to speak, sing, minister, parent, etc. Everyone from the most popular, the most influential, to the most humble and meek person. All will be judged only on our obedience.

Now doesn’t that take a load off. We don’t have to be “someone”. We don’t have to “fulfill our destiny in life”. We simply have to follow and obey our Shepherd, our Lord.

Prayer – Blessed Lord, help us to follow You by loving and obeying You day by day.

Words to light your path this week

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
