Essential faith – Do you say, “Faith, so what?”

Essential faith – Do you say, “Faith, so what?”

Essential faith is there for the bottom line when life is not pleasant.

Do you say, “I believe in God. So What? Faith, so what? How does that help me now?” The following is a list of some of life’s difficulties, bumps on our road. Sometimes, more like mountains in our way. How does my faith in God help me in life in real time? Any of the following in your life today?

Take your pick of the following:

  • I’m running late
  • I got little sleep – sick kids
  • I’m to be in 2 places at once
  • My kids hate me
  • I failed my class
  • I got a ticket
  • I’m an alcoholic
  • I’m in desperate need for a fix
  • I’m a secret medication abuser
  • I have a temper
  • I cut myself
  • I think I am _______
  • I hate myself
  • I feel like a loser
  • I want a boy/girlfriend
  • My job is awful
  • My coworkers are hard to get along with
  • My relative died
  • A hurricane destroyed my home
  • I need to get a meal for my family
  • I really need a personal vacation
  • I lost my job
  • I’m getting old

Essential Faith in the hard places

That is a list of some of the difficulties of life. Again, what does faith have to do with life? If we look to ourselves to face life, we are looking in the wrong place. None of our life of faith is to come from our efforts, from our abilities, our strength. David Wilkerson tells of a place of rest in God free from fear and stress.

It is the life of Christ living through us that will enable us to live a life of joy and peace Monday morning or Thursday night, etc. It is the supernatural life of Christ in us, living for us. Empowering us. Providing significance to our life. Satisfying that longing to know God and to be known by God. That takes our life to a different level.

Monday mornings. Do you dread them? What if we saw them in a different light? A different perspective. A different reason to get up and get moving.

Essential Faith for mundane Mondays

I think in the everyday tasks before us we lose sight of our real purpose for each day and get bogged down in the mundane responsibilities. We are Christ’s ambassador to our spouse, our children, and our employer. We are His representative to our neighbor, the cashier at the grocery store, and to our dentist.

Now, that changes my outlook. Does that change your outlook? It provides meaning for my day and significance to my life. What about you? Will you join me in stepping aside to allow Jesus Christ to live through us? Meeting every difficulty or good time in His strength, love, and peace?

To paraphrase Psalm 89:15-16 Happy are the people who walk in the light of God’s countenance, who are joyful all day in belonging to God, and by God’s righteousness they are lifted up.  There is so much help in the Bible. Make it your daily go to for all you need.

Words to light your path

2 Corinthians 2:14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.

Lord Jesus, You promised to always lead us in triumph no matter the circumstances. You said we would be more than conquerors. Help us to always keep our eyes on You as you lead us on the path You have chosen for us.
