Dependency on Christ – A Relaxed Life

Dependency on Christ – A Relaxed Life

dependency       Can dependency be a good thing?  Can a tomato grow apart from the vine?  Does it struggle to grow?

Haven’t we been told that dependency is bad? We’ve all heard the encouraging words “You are strong.” Or, “You don’t need anyone else. You can do it.” Those who know they can’t do it feel like failures like they are lacking something and are somehow inferior to most people.

Jesus set an example of dependency for the believers by the life He lived, a life of total dependency on His Father. He told us many times in the gospel of John how He depended on His Father.

Jesus was totally dependent on His Father.  If Jesus Christ was totally dependent on His Father, how much more are we dependent on Jesus?

Jesus said we are the branch, and He is the vine. As branches, we are incapable of producing fruit if disconnected from the Vine. All the nourishment for the branch comes from the vine. The vine, Jesus, provides all we need to be a fruitful believer. Our part is to constantly look to Him for all we need. That’s all. Look to Him as the place from which we live our lives. He told us that without Him we could do nothing. Do we believe Him?

We can be totally dependent on Jesus

Isn’t it awesome that we can have such a life, a victorious life, a life stress-free? We can relax knowing we don’t lack anything for life. He has provided all we need. All. No worries. Do you believe it? It’s true. We have the life of Christ in us. In us. Not somewhere we have to call out to for help. His life in us enabling us to live a life pleasing Him. A life equipped to handle any situation in life.

Think about that for a minute. Whatever life throws at us, Jesus in us is able to meet it without tension or stress. I wonder how many of us take advantage of what He offers. His life is in us whether or not we believe it or draw from that life. As we abide in Jesus, He provides all we need just like His Father provided for Him.

Totally dependent on Jesus. Did you know that as a believer you are fully equipped for all of life?  See 2Pet. 1:3.

What do we have to do? Actively yield to Him and allow Him to live through us. Maybe you would like to see what Oswald Chambers has to say about abiding in Christ.

Words to light your path –

“Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of HImself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. John 5:19 NKJV

“I can of Myself do nothing..” John 5:30 NKJV

“For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of  who sent me.” John 6:38 NKJV

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5 NKJV

Our Father, without You we are incapable of living a life pleasing to You. So help us to draw all we need from You who gives liberally. Help us to abide in Jesus all the time. If we don’t, we will give a distorted witness of the gospel and possibly bring dishonor to Your name, something we don’t want to do.
