Subtle Danger to the Believer’s Walk

Subtle Danger to the Believer’s Walk

seeing God in the ordinary

One simple, but subtle danger in the Christian walk, is not seeing God in the ordinary. In our everyday, often mundane life it might not seem important to know God is very much involved in our life minute by minute.

It is obvious that His presence is needed in a preaching, teaching, or singing ministry. But, His presence is just as essential in our daily life, whether we are changing a flat tire, washing dishes, doing our job, or simply being a parent day in and day out. Our actions and our words speak volumes, not only to those we work with, but to our children, our families, and our spouse.

Why is it a subtle danger to not recognize Him in our life each day?

Well, we might not be satisfied if we are not doing something considered important by other people. We won’t be available for God’s service if we don’t see the importance. We might not have love for the ordinary people we meet as we go through our days and miss opportunities to minister to them in their everyday needs. Another subtle danger is in thinking too much of ourselves, thinking we need to do more important tasks. And finally, instead of seeing the importance of each day, we let our defenses down and leave ourselves open to attack from our enemy.

What are the benefits of seeing God in everyday life?

First of all, we can be filled with joy based on a satisfying relationship with God when we see every minute of our day as important to Him. We will always be available for Him to use us, whether it is something big or small. Every person we interact with will be important. We will see them with God’s eyes and may be able to bless them in some way. It will give us a correct perspective on life (not all about me). Lastly, we will always be alert, listening to God’s heart.

Words to light your path –
And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:17 NKJV

For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 NKJV

That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work. Colossians 1:10 NKJV

Let your speech always be with grace. Colossians 4:6 NKJV

Lord God, may we be aware of Your presence in our daily life so that whatever we do or say, we would always bring honor to Your name and not dishonor.
