Jesus Slept – His Disciples Were Anxious

Childlike trust in God

Jesus Slept

Jesus slept during a severe storm. His disciples were shocked that He would sleep while they were in such danger. They had not yet become that close to Him that they knew if He rested, they too, could rest. That they could rest knowing He would protect them.

Childlike Trust

How secure are you in your relationship with God? How well do you know Him? Do you rest in Him? Do you know that He cares for you? Is your soul quiet, with His assurance? He wants us to have childlike faith in Him and His love for us.

“Blessed quietness, holy quietness. What assurance to my soul! On the stormy sea, He speaks peace to me. How the billows cease to roll.”*

Trust During Storms

In the midst of any storm, we can be at peace knowing our Savior is with us. Trusting Him for the outcome. Not demanding a specific outcome. It will be His choice. Resting in Him. Trusting Him for our future whether it be the next hour, next day or the next year.

Sometimes it might seem easier to trust Him for the next year, but the next hour? Well, that is something different. It is immediate. Not in the vague future.

Life happens and it is not always good. People we love get sick. Jobs go away. Our car needs expensive repairs. Conflicts erupt at home. Disagreements between extended family members.  A hurricane is forecasted. Maybe someone you love leaves you. Lots can go wrong, but God wants us to trust Him.

What Does God Say About Trusting Him?

What does God have to say about trusting Him when you feel all alone and overwhelmed?

Isaiah 41:13 “For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’”

Does it seem like God is ignoring you? Let me assure he He is not.

Isaiah 40:27 “Why do you say…my way is hidden from the Lord and my just claim is passed over by my God.”

God is very much aware of your situation, your problem, your difficulty.

God Cares For You

He wants you to be very much aware of Him and His care for you. He wants us to be at peace and have joy even when our common sense tells us otherwise. So put your hand in His and walk with Him. Let Him take care of you and yours.

Psalms 62:1-2 Truly my soul silently waits for God;…He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.

Here is what David Wilkerson has to say about trusting God.

My Prayer –

Lord, Only Your Spirit can open our eyes to how much You love us. I pray for each reader that You would open their understanding so that they would be able to comprehend what is the width and length and depth and height–to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge (Ephesians 3:18-19).
